Bass Practice

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 11, 2026

The Double Bass Practice App (basspractice.app) is made by Crescendo Studios. This page explains what the app collects, why, and the choices you have.

In short: there are no accounts, and you never type personal information into the app. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, which use cookies, run only if you allow them. Without your permission, only cookieless, aggregate statistics are collected.

Your cookie choice

The first time you visit, we ask whether analytics cookies may be used. You can change your answer here at any time. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a “no” and don't ask.

What is collected without cookies

  • Usage statistics (Vercel Web Analytics). Pages viewed and the features you use, such as starting playback, changing the tempo or transposing; how long a practice session lasts; device type, screen size, browser language and time zone; and a random session number created for each visit. No cookies are set. Vercel counts visitors with a hash of the request that it discards after 24 hours, so visits can't be linked across days or websites.
  • Performance (Vercel Speed Insights). How quickly pages load and respond. No cookies.
  • Hosting. The site is hosted by Vercel, whose servers keep standard request logs (such as IP address, browser and the page requested) for security and reliability.
  • Instrument sounds. When you play a score, the app downloads instrument sounds from GitHub Pages (gleitz.github.io and paulrosen.github.io). Like any web request, this shares your IP address with GitHub.

What is collected only with your consent

  • Google Analytics (Google) records how the app is used: pages, features, approximate location (city and country, worked out from your IP address, which Google doesn't store), device and browser. It is set up without advertising features. Google keeps the event-level data for the retention period set in our account, at most 14 months.
  • Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft) records how pages are used, such as clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, to produce heatmaps and session replays that show where the app is hard to use. Recordings are kept for up to 30 days unless we save a specific one for longer.

Microsoft may also set its own cookies, such as MUID, on Microsoft domains when Clarity runs. Local storage stays on your device and is never sent to us. If you withdraw consent, the app deletes the Google Analytics and Clarity cookies and stops both services.

What we don't do

We don't sell personal information, show ads, or share data for advertising, and we don't try to identify you.

Why we process this data

Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity run on the basis of your consent. The cookieless statistics, hosting logs and sound downloads are needed to run, secure and improve the app (our legitimate interest in providing a working practice tool).

Where the data goes

Vercel, Google, Microsoft and GitHub process data on our behalf or as independent providers, and may do so in the United States and other countries under their own safeguards for international transfers, such as Standard Contractual Clauses. Their privacy policies: Vercel, Google, Microsoft, GitHub.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you, to object to or restrict its use, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to your data protection authority. Because the app has no accounts, the data it collects isn't tied to your name; clearing your cookies resets the analytics IDs. For any request or question, email info@crescendostudios.com.

Children

The app is meant for musicians of all ages and needs no account. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children; analytics cookies run only if someone using the device allows them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top, and ask for your cookie choice again if the change affects it.
